Wheez-ie lives in Boston. Hey me too! Wheez-ie is actually from Houston, Texas. Hey–me too! But I didn’t know either of these cities could produce such vengefully bombastic bass.
“What U Want” is an intentionally orphaned, free track, meaning it has no official release. However, it does help hype Wheez-ie’s new 12″ EP Remember the Score on Brighton UK’s Well Rounded Records. Wheez-ie shares the Well Rounded roundtable with juke giants DJ Rashad, Distal and imprint boss Donga. But couple a British record label with my bias for UK bass and I’m ready to hear at least one 4/4 measure of garage or jungle.
Prepare to be mauled.
Free download “What U Want” takes the most virulent grains of Chicago juke, mixes them in the smoothest garage bass solution and smashes it with the most evil drop you’ve heard in a MINUTE. Then the bass just rolls earthquakes under you for a few bars.
This track is the point when you decide to ditch your drink in a dead club and go apeshit by yourself in front of a dozen lingerers. Pretty soon people are taking cues and peeling themselves off the walls to join you.
