Whoa–what is this? Where are we? Are we lost on a Pacific Island? No–we’re in the ’90s.

In “Cool Party,” Venice, California’s Groundislava makes a mystic beat out of ’90s video games and horror movie samples. Lemme break it down for you.

That metallic drum melody that drives the track is from a legendary and beautifully deep RPG from 1995 called Chrono Trigger. That “Oh my God” at the beginning is from 1990 B-grade horror flick Troll 2. And that “Holy shit” is from groundbreaking first-person shooting game Unreal Tournament, published in 1999.

Groundislava put ’90s references and nerdery at the base of an undoubtedly “Cool Party.” Did I ruin all the sexy for you?

Forget everything I just said. Cool party bro.
