Few rappers are willing to get as slimy as Mr. MFN eXquire–
–Which is funny, because eXqo recently shaved his name down from the heartier name “Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire.” “MFN” is definitely safer for business, but it’s out of character for eXqo to ever censor himself. His new bosses at Universal Music Group must be looking over his shoulder.

Last fall, the Brooklyn sludge spitter self released the wildly popular free mixtape Lost In Translation through indie fashion pushers MishkaNYC. Since then, Mr. MFN eXquire‘s been playing the field, carefully choosing the most formidable team.

I’m never prepared to hear it when the rawest of rappers sign deals with giant record companies. Universal Music Group is worldwide and they’ve got a lot to lose, taking what seems like a big risk on artists like eXqo. But hip hop has been this beautiful, colorful circus for decades. Keeping that tradition alive, MFN‘s first chosen single under his new umbrella is called “Telephuck.”
The lawyers are scrambling.
