FULLSCREEN is a series of videos to be viewed at the highest res your rig can handle.
If I could use my skateboard to travel the world, I’d start pushing planks today. But skateboarding ain’t my thing. I did it for years as a teenager but it never clicked. If I continued it would’ve been like forcing myself to master an instrument.
You can learn the techniques, you can learn something about yourself through the diligence required and you’ll get plenty babes, but the skill might not come naturally. Are we exploring what we’re truly good at or is it just a lot of work?
For the seven subjects of ORDOS, skateboarding is both. When you watch Jay Meador, Gustav Nymans, Tommy Zhao, Alexander Hwang, James Capps, Elliott Zelinskas & Brian Dolle roll around on the grip tape, you see a zen combination of work and play. You see fulfillment in action, through each skater. Fulfillment is a feeling which only comes with dedication, but it sticks with you.
When you lay your head down to sleep, you feel a stronger sense of identity through the work you’ve invested. You feel like you’re on the right path in your life. It’s a mega feeling, and it’s unmistakable. With every extreme sports artist we cover in our FULLSCREEN features, that steady balance between work and play is visibly obvious.
Inner fire makes great art. ORDOS creators Charles Lanceplaine, Beekeepers Inc. favorite Patrik Wallner (of Visualtraveling) and skater/filmer Tommy Zhao all have it. Their dedication to creating a good looking film segment is so clear to the viewer that it spreads like fire to us, encouraging us to find our own sparks.
In ORDOS, the otherworldly locale is like gasoline to that spark. View some truly amazing architecture in the abandoned Mongolian megacity of Ordos.
And then watch it get mobbed.
Built for 1 million people and currently inhabited by just a few thousand.
It’s been called the Dubai of northern China, showered with wealth, packed with public infrastructure and located near to precious natural resources in a region plagued by water-supply troubles.
Ordos is a ghost town located in Inner Mongolia. Seeing the potential of this city in terms of spots we decided to organize a skate trip and be the first ones to skate such a surreal place.
