The Australian born, London based producer Owen Howells primed this one for summertime. “Riding” has a wide open, organic sound.
When the DJ decided not to stack the track with layers of surprising sounds and changes, it became a steady, slow moving freight train rather than a coke loaded speedboat. As my eyes follow the path of “Riding,” I get the feeling that I’m sitting back and watching. I’m not actually engaging in the scene. It’s nice.
The track never hits any wild crescendos, but that gives it a quality of consistency. When you hear the tinny, authentic sounding samples of the track below, you might see why this one is more welcome at a block party than hidden away in a dark club.
So I’ll be on this stoop over here.
Watching the song go by.
